The Victory of Joan of Arc from Augustine Institute Radio Theatre Released Today

One of the most anticipated releases of 2023 is finally here. Augustine Institute Radio Theatre returns after a three-year break with The Victory of Joan of Arc. The fifth release from AIR Theatre brings a cast of nearly 60 actors together to tell the life story of the maiden known today as Joan of Arc, but who we are introduced to as Jeanne d’Arc.

Declared a witch, she became a saint.

Imagine it’s 15th-century France. A 17-year-old peasant girl enters the royal courts during one of the longest and bloodiest wars in history. She claims she’s been sent by God to fulfill a mission: drive out the English enemy and place the true king of France on the throne.

In this powerful movie-of-the-mind audio drama, you’ll hear the true story of how she rose from an obscure peasant village to serve God and her country in the most surprising and miraculous ways.

The most experienced politicians could not thwart her. The most seasoned soldiers could not outmaneuver her. She was relentless in bravery, determination, boldness, passion, and holiness—finally yielding to offer the ultimate sacrifice.

The Church calls her a saint. History calls her a hero.

Written and directed by Paul McCusker, this four-and-a-half-hour long production stars Heather Forster as Joan, Harry Lloyd as Mouchard, and Finty Williams as The Interviewer. Also heard in the cast are several actors we're familiar with from productions in Heirloom Audio's G.A. Henty line and Lamplighter Theatre, such as Nicholas Boulton, Peter Moreton, Dominic Hecht, Joseph Timms, Andrew Harrison, Philip Sherlock, and Mervyn Stutter, just to name a few. With post-production by Todd Busteed and a score by Jared DePasquale, this audio drama is already being hailed as epic, beautiful, and world-class.

McCusker drew from dozens of sources—biographies, historical books, and even court transcripts—to write this script, striving to stay close to historical truth and stay focused on the themes of Joan's life and "the principal characters and scenes undergirding those themes." He distills the message of The Victory of Joan of Arc this way: "My hope is for us to remember that Joan was placed in her time to love and serve her Savior. She did. May the same be said of us."
